By John Wear Gruesome Harvest by Ralph Franklin Keeling was originally published in 1947 by the Institute of American Economics in Chicago. Although World War II was history’s most catastrophic and destructive war, this book documents that the death and suffering of Germans increased after the end of the war. What lay ahead for Germany after the war was, as Time magazine later phrased it, “history’s most terrifying peace.” Gruesome Harvest documents in graphic detail.
Investigators have released the names of the 13 men who were arrested in a prostitution sting that was set up in hotels in New Ulm and Saint Peter last weekend. The list includes several men from Mankato, two from New Ulm, and one each from Eagle Lake, Madison Lake, Sleepy Eye, Owatonna, and Rochester. According to the New Ulm Journal, The Reverend David Bendix was among those charged. The Pastor of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church has resigned.
